Arbitron (NYSE:ARB) has acquired Zokem Oy, Finland, which provides mobile audience measurements and analytics for approximately USD 11.7 million plus possible additional amounts based on future financial performance. Zokem operates mobile research panels and provides measurement tools. It currently operates in 14 countries.

Phillips Plastics to Acquire Medisize

Phillips Plastics, U.S., has agreed to acquire Medisize, Finland, from Ratos AB, Sweden, and other shareholders for an enterprise value of Euro 127.5 million. Medisize is a contract manufacturer specialised in medical devices for delivery and administration of drugs and pharmaceutical packaging and single-use plastic products for anaesthesia and intensive care with 860 employees. Phillips Plastics is controlled by U.S. private equity group Kohlberg & Co.

Scanbio Marine Group, Norway, will be acquired by the U.S. private equity group Paine & Partners from Scanbio AS which is owned by which is owned by Rolf Eide, Per Arne Eide and Verdane Capital. Scanbio a leading producer of fish protein concentrate, fish meal and fish oil from fresh and ensiled fish by-products.

Dentsply to Acquire Astra Tech

Dentsply International (Nasdaq:XRAY) has agreed to acquire Astra Tech, Sweden, a unit of AstraZeneca, for USD approximately 1.8 billion. Astra Tech which had revenues of USD 535 million in 2010 is the world's third largest dental implant maker and also produces medical devices for urology and surgery.

Loomis to Acquire Pendum's Cash Handling Business

Loomis AB, Sweden, has agreed to acquire the cash handling business of Pendum LLC in the United States for USD 100 million. The business being acquired includes cash replenishment and management of 43,000 ATMs across the US and with annual revenues of approximately USD 100 million. Pendum, which is owned by private equity group Bayside Capital, will continue to operate its ATM maintenance and service operations.

Medtronic Acquires Jolife

Physio-Control, a subsidiary of Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) has acquired Jolife AB, Sweden, which developed and and manufactures the LUCAS Chest Compression System, a medical device for heart-lung-resuscitation. The companies already had an existing partnership since 2004. Investors in Jolife included InnovationsKapital and Swedestart Life Science (CapMan).

MCC Acquires Carrier Corp. Bus Air Conditioning Business

Mobile Climate Control (MCC), a subsidiary of Ratos AB, Sweden, has agreed to acquire the US and Canadian bus air conditioning business of Carrier Corporation, a unit of United Technologies (NYSE:UTX) for USD 32.1 million. The business had sales of USD 63.5 million in 2010 and is headquartered in York, PA.

Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) has agreed to acquire the consumer healthcare business of Ferrosan, Denmark, with its portfolio of dietary supplements, probiotics and skincare products. Ferrosan, which is owned by private equity group Altor Equity Partners, will retain its medical device division focused on haemostatic products.

The polyalcohol Penta is used in applications such as alkyd resins, PVC stabilizers, synthetic lubricants, varnishes. Perstorp is controlled by PAI Partners, a European private equity group.

DuPont to Acquire Danisco

DuPont (NYSE:DD) plans to acquire Danisco, Denmark, for $6.3 billion. Danisco is a leading global enzyme and food ingredients company with sales of $2.6 billion in 2010. Its specialty food ingredients business, including enablers, cultures and sweeteners, generate about 65 percent of total sales while Genencor, its enzymes division, represents 35 percent of total sales. The transaction is expected to close in the 2nd quarter of 2011.

Seco Tools, Sweden, a leading metalworking technology company, has signed an agreement to acquire NC Industries (NCI) and Diamond Tool Coating (DTC) in the U.S. NCI is a producer of solid carbide end mills under the Niagara Cutters and Arch Micro Tools brands and DTC is a producer of wear resistant diamond coatings. Together they have annual sales of approximately USD 37 million and 170 employees.
